Signs Of The Old West Times in Salida, Colorado

Salida, Colorado was originally settled by the Ute Indians, for whom many of the local mountain peaks are named. Early in its history the area experienced an influx of explorers, miners, railroad expansionists, farmers and ranchers.
I had the pleasure of visiting Salida on March 29th, 2010, to find a quaint little town full of cool coffee shops, and funky art galleries. The coolest thing I found in the city was the remnants of old advertising still holding onto the sides of the old brick buildings in the downtown area. The feeling these advertsing murals brought about was nostalgic to say the least. Who remembers when Coke was a nickel?...or when stores advertised selling Explosives!? These are some of the final reminders that that did happen once upon a time in the West! These images are available in limited editions of 11 in 4 different sizes.
